GW&K Named 2018 Asset Manager of the Year in Fixed Income.
Boston, MA – June 5, 2018 – GW&K Investment Management (GW&K), a dynamic investment management firm offering equity and fixed income investment solutions to meet the needs of a diverse client base, has been named the 2018 Asset Manager of the Year in the fixed income category by Investment Advisor magazine and Envestnet | PMC for the consistency and outperformance of its Enhanced Core Bond Strategy.
Harold G. Kotler, CFA, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of GW&K, noted, “This is the third time GW&K has received an Asset Manager of the Year award from Investment Advisor and Envestnet | PMC for the Enhanced Core Bond Strategy. We could not be more honored with the recognition and what it says about the expertise and commitment of our fixed income investment team.”
Investment Advisor and Envestnet | PMC, a provider of wealth management solutions, are both highly regarded industry leaders which have also recognized GW&K in past years for its Municipal Bond and Small/Mid Cap Core Strategies.
As in previous years, award winners and finalists were selected using Envestnet | PMC’s multi-factor, proprietary and systematic methodology for evaluating asset managers. This framework considers a broad spectrum of qualitative and quantitative criteria, including investment process and style, performance, firm profile, customer service and tax efficiency.
To be eligible for an award, a management team needed at least three years of experience running a strategy that had $200 million or more in assets. Managers must also report their investment strategies through Envestnet | PMC’s Premium Research solutions, which serves as a leading source of investment manager due diligence and research for advisors.
Mary F. Kane, CFA, Partner and portfolio manager for GW&K’s taxable bond strategies, said that she and the fixed income team were honored and gratified by the award.
“This recognition speaks clearly to the quality of our credit research and the fixed income team’s time-tested expertise in identifying attractive risk-adjusted investment opportunities for a broad spectrum of institutional and private wealth clients,” she said.
GW&K’s Enhanced Core Bond Strategy takes an active management, multi-sector approach, employing top-down analysis and bottom-up research that seeks to identify income generating and capital appreciation opportunities, while mitigating risk in varying economic conditions. The Strategy, which is available to clients via separately managed accounts or a sub-advised mutual fund, as of March 31, 2018 had approximately $1.2 billion in assets under management.
In addition to the Enhanced Core Bond Strategy, GW&K offers four other taxable bond strategies: Short-Term Taxable Bond, Core Bond, Total Return Bond and Corporate Bond Opportunities. Overall, the firm manages $36 billion in assets in 17 distinct equity and fixed income investment strategies for corporations, public funds, endowments, foundations, religious organizations, multi-employer/unions, financial institutions, and individuals and families.
