Responsibilities
Lewis is a partner of the firm and serves as GW&K’s general counsel with responsibility for managing the firm’s legal, regulatory compliance, and risk matters. He works to enhance the firm’s internal controls and business processes, and contributes to new investment strategy launches and other business opportunities consistent with GW&K’s entrepreneurial culture. He is a member of various committees at GW&K including the Management Committee, which oversees the firm’s business.
Prior Work Experience
Prior to joining GW&K, Lewis was with GW&K’s institutional partner, Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (AMG), where he oversaw US legal and regulatory compliance for AMG affiliates. Before AMG, Lewis was an associate at the law firm of Ropes & Gray, representing a diverse group of clients including investment management firms, mutual funds, and sports organizations. Lewis began his career running special events and promotions for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Education / Affiliations
Lewis received his JD from the University of Michigan Law School and a BA from Williams College. Lewis is active in a number of charitable initiatives and presently serves as a board member for the New England Mountain Bike Association (Purple Valley Chapter) and the Williams Baseball Diamond Club. Previously, he has served as a board member of other non-profit organizations including Good Sports (which distributes new sporting goods equipment to kids in need across the US), iBme (Inward Bound Mindfulness Education), and his town’s Little League and Trails Committee.
Outside the Office...
I am a devoted Masters Cyclocross racer, a form of bicycle racing. I participate in many races across the Northeast and, occasionally, nationally. I also enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, gardening, cooking, and quality family time.
